800+ Craftsman homes in a landmark district.
Bungalow Heaven, a 16-block neighborhood in Pasadena, was built between 1900 and 1930 as working-class housing for the booming Southern California economy. Its 800+ Craftsman bungalows make it one of the densest concentrations of the style in the nation. Designated a City of Pasadena Landmark District in 1989, the neighborhood has been a model of grassroots historic preservation, with homeowners banding together to protect the area's character. The annual Bungalow Heaven Home Tour draws visitors from across the country to see these beautifully restored examples of California Craftsman architecture.
